DOD Carcosa Fuzz Pedal
DOD’s Carcosa Fuzz is a pedal intended for use with electric guitar and bass that’s designed to provide not only classic fuzz-distortion tones, but also modern fuzz timbres. The pedal accomplishes this tonal variety with two controls—the AFTER knob, which changes the texture of the distortion’s characteristics, and the DEMHE/HALI toggle switch, which changes the overall fuzzing by shaping the frequency content of the signal. Set to DEMHE, the pedal provides a bass and low-mid boost particularly suited for use in conjunction with a clean amp channel. Set to HALI, on the other hand, and the pedal cuts the bass, giving you a tone that works well in conjunction with an already dirty amp sound.
The pedal features a true-bypass footswitch, so when you disengage the Carcosa, it will have no impact on your signal chain. You can power this pedal with a 9V battery (available separately) or a power adapter (also available separately).
Knobs at a Glance
- BEFORE: This knob increases/decreases the amount of fuzz.
- OUTPUT: This control increases/decreases the overall output level; as there is a lot of level provided by the pedal, you can use this control as a boost
- AFTER: This knob acts as a bias control, changing the texture of the fuzz, with counter-clockwise giving you loud “woody” fuzz tones, and full clockwise affecting a more “broken” fuzz timbre, and middle ranges providing anything from a classic to more modern “wall-of-sound” fuzz voicing
- DEMHE/HALI: Use the DEMHE voicing (up / toggle position) for a bass and low-mid boost which works great for clean channels; use the HALI voicing (Down Toggle Position) for a bass cut that works great for dirty channels
- HI-CUT: Reduces the amount of high-frequency detail, and works alongside the DEMHE/HALI and AFTER controls in sculpting the overall tone of your fuzz
