Resident Audio T4 – Thunderbolt Audio Interface RET4
The T4 from Resident Audio is Thunderbolt equipped, four input, four output audio interface with support for 24-bit/96 kHz audio and near-zero latency for virtually instantaneous recording and playback. In addition, the unit is sturdy while being lightweight and truly portable by virtue of being entirely bus powered from the Thunderbolt port. Add a pair of MIDI I/O ports and the unit extends its usefulness for both studio and live applications.
Tilted tactile gain controls with three-color wraparound LEDs allow for quickly setting optimal levels, even in low-light onstage environments. Four combo XLR/TRS input jacks accept microphones, instruments and line-level devices, with phantom power available globally for all inputs, and four balanced TRS outputs provide for connection to speakers and external mixers. An auto-detecting Multichannel Output Mode and Smart Monitoring automatically switch the outputs between stereo and mono depending upon input configuration.
When a connection is made to output jack 4, the unit operates in multichannel mode. Four discrete monophonic output signals from the computer are routed to the corresponding four output jacks, with the live input signal sent to the headphone jack only. When no connection is made to output jack 4, the interface switches to stereo mix mode and all live input signals, along with all output signals from the computer are internally mixed to stereo and routed to outputs 1 and 2. In this mode, output 3 can be used as a second headphone source.
